General Manager - Transportation and Warehousing
At ProTrans, we are looking for a General Manager to work in our Romulus, MI. location.Responsibilities
Directs oversight of Distribution Center staff with input on hiring, training, scheduling, etc.
Prioritizes and control workload in and out of the warehouse in order to meet customer's transportation schedules
Ensures the accurate and timely preparation of reports regarding warehouse operations
Oversees inbound tracking, receiving, put-away, cycle count, and inventory control procedures
Supervises picking, packing, and timely staging of outbound orders
Maintains a profitable and professional relationship with carriers. Looks for new opportunities for carrier development when possible.
Works to improve safety record and looks for new opportunities to maintain a safe working environment.Conducts or facilitates safety training as needed or required.
Ensures employees are trained to the level necessary to perform the essential functions of their job in a timely manner.
Takes an active role in process improvements
Works with the Customer and resolves issues (may require limited travel)
Maintains a professional environment that fosters team spirit while achieving customer demands. Assumes new team roles, shares relevant information and conducts team meetings on a regular basis.
Establishes operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of merchandise, and keeping of warehouse inventory.
Leads and directs the work of others, enhancing a team environment.

REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's degree and/or 5-10 years of management experience in the transportation/logistics/warehouse/distribution industry.* Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.* Computer experience in Windows, Excel, and warehouse management systems.* Ability to work in a team environment and work various shifts as needed.
