General Manager
The primary purpose of this role is to maximize the weekly, monthly, and annual performance of the site. Specifically, the General Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of a high-volume supply chain operation. The General Manager will provide overall leadership in the areas of operational performance, P&L management, customer relations, continuous improvement, and Associate development. Due to the unique challenges of the industry, it is essential applicants possess a track record of progressive success in performance-based environments that focus on customer service, urgency and continuous improvement.
Complete financial, operational and leadership responsibility for a supply chain operation. Deliver against the financial plan. Provide leadership, focusing on Customer requirements, operational performance and a motivated workforce. Ensure succession planning and consistent global delivery of services and solutions through the Exel Way methodology. Partner with Development Teams to maximize opportunistic business pursuits.
Key Accountabilities
Customer
Ensure Customer contract requirements are understood and utilized to meet business expectations
Commit to operate as an impetus for change be proactive and creative specific to improving & optimizing changes that enhance the Customer value proposition
Recognize/Develop opportunities for growth
Demonstrate consistent awareness of the business profile as it changes and understand respective ramifications
Maximise the performance of the site warehouse management system to ensure:
- Care, custody and control of Customer inventory
- Productivity and Space utilisation (efficient product placement, etc.)
- Accuracy (to floor and Customer book)
- Proper utilisation of systems
Associate
Manage a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for Associates
Manage and insure timely associate performance reviews, development, succession planning, on-boarding and development of the Management Team.
Ensure site operates to the routines outlined in the Time Allocation Matrix and SOPs
Ensure company policies are communicated, administered and enforced (i.e. accounting, operational, regulatory and administrative)
Participate in the management, training, development of Supervisors/Managers as well as, hiring & retention of hourly and supervisory staff consistent with the site turnover objectives
Asset control responsibilities to ensure the Associates have required tools to achieve success against their goals
Process
Maximise the performance of the site
Leadership, design & execution of Workshop action plans, projects and best practice sharing / implementation
Develop / Achieve agreed budget, revenue, profit (P&L) for site
Trend & Impact analysis that leads to execution of improvement action plans regarding service levels to ensure that performance metrics to meet Customer / vendor, and Exel (Balanced Scorecard) requirements
Take an active role in site workload planning and volume forecasting (i.e. staffing, equipment, space)
REQUIREMENTS
7+ years supply chain management experience in transportation, distribution and/or freight management
A degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related operations discipline
5+ years experience managing full P&L
A hands-on management approach that encourages change and creative problem-solving
Ability to work well in a fast-paced and high-intensity environment
Ability to interact effectively at multiple levels in support of customer relationships
Ability to meet strict time frames in environments with zero tolerance for failure
A commitment to continuous improvement in an ever-changing industry
