Patient Service Technician with CDL and HazMat - Driver

I. SUMMARY
Responsible for delivery and set-up of equipment at the delivery address. Educates the patient and/or caregiver on the safe use and maintenance of the delivered item.
II. JOB FUNCTIONS
A. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operates a Commercial Motor Vehicle as applicable to the weight class of Commercial Drivers License and endorsements.
Adheres to and implements all Rotech policies and procedures
Develops and maintains working knowledge of:
Current HME products and services offered by the company; and
All applicable governmental regulations
Manages territory to reach service goals and delivers equipment and oxygen as required in accordance with industry standards and applicable federal, state and local governmental regulations.
DOT
DQFS– Maintains a compliant Drivers Qualification File.
DDLS - Completes Daily Drivers Logs in compliance with Company policies
DVIRS – Completes Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports
SHIPPING DOCUMENTS– Completes shipping papers when transporting hazardous materials in accordance to Rotech policy and procedures
HOS – Complies with all Hours of Service rules as mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and company policies and procedures.
Vehicle Placarding- Complies with all FMCSA rules and regulations and company policies and procedures in compliance with vehicle placarding requirements when transporting hazardous materials in commerce.
FDA
LOTL – Completes all liquid oxygen transfilling procedures using Liquid Oxygen Transfill Log in compliance with Rotech policies and procedures when filling liquid oxygen at a Rotech Warehouse.
ROUTE SHEET- Completes a Route Sheet in compliance with Rotech policies and procedures.
Delivers and educates patients on the safe use and maintenance of respiratory and HME equipment in the home or office setting.
Completes written patient visit reports following setup and follow-up visits per company policy.
Assists in resolving customer equipment problems under emergency conditions.
Processes all orders and required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
Develops basic reimbursement knowledge, completely documents all information
required to ensure reimbursement of equipment, products and services.
Develops technical knowledge, as appropriate, of the HME or respiratory products
and services provided by the company.
Assists with implementation of quality improvement programs to meet company and JCAHO standards.
Maintains home oxygen systems in patient’s homes per company policy.
Assumes on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with company policy.
Reports equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Maintains delivery activity database
Maintains assigned company vehicle in a clean and safe working condition
Communicates to supervisor any vehicle problems or conditions which would otherwise compromise the safe operation of the vehicle.
Prepares and maintains written company records to include invoices, work orders, manifests and production logs.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Adheres to company policies and procedures in regards to using personnel protective safety equipment
Performs other duties as required.

A. Education and Experience
Possess high school diploma
3+ years delivery or equivalent experience.
B. Certifications, License, Registrations
Must possess a valid Commercial Drivers License (with Hazardous Material Endorsement) as applicable to the weight class of the vehicle he or she will be responsible for driving and issued by the State in which they are employed.
Must possess applicable license endorsements.
Must possess a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate
Must have a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) free from suspensions, limitations or convictions for Major Offenses or Serious Traffic Violations as stipulated in Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Section 383.51, Subpart D – Driver Disqualifications and Penalties.
C. Communication Skills
Must be able to clearly communicate verbally with patients, care givers and other personnel.
Must be able to demonstrate equipment to patients and care givers.
D. Analytical Skills
Must be able to perform simple mathematical calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
E. Physical Demands
Requires lifting (minimum of 65 pounds) and transporting of patient equipment.
Requires contact with patients and equipment with potential exposure to contagious pathogens.
Successfully pass a DOT Physically Examination upon initial employment and every two years thereafter
Requires potential to exposure to liquid cryogenics (e.g. liquid oxygen).
Requires driving a company vehicle for the majority of the workday.
F. Machines, Equipment and Technical Abilities
Able to operate assigned company vehicle, according to weight class and licensure required, to include installed apparatus (e.g. cryogenic storage vessels).
Able to successfully demonstrate, once properly trained, the ability to operate a liquid oxygen supply vessel, as required, for transfilling liquid oxygen on an ongoing basis
Able to operate vehicle mounted power lift or rail gates as required
Successfully demonstrate loading, unloading and proper tie down procedures as per company policy of transported cargo
Ability to understand and operate equipment used in transfilling, (e.g. legal for trade weigh scales, pressure gauges, flow meters, hand held oxygen analyzers and cryogenic transfilling hoses)
Understands use of all applicable home respiratory equipment and supplies.
Able to use common office equipment (e.g., phone, copier, fax, computer, etc.)
Basic computer skills
Mechanically inclined for the repair and troubleshooting of equipment
G. Additional Skills and Abilities
Read and successfully interpret written directions and/or instructions in English
Ability to write legibly.
Time Management skills
IV. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Travel via company vehicle required to patient’s homes for set-ups and reoccurring delivery
