Operations Manager (Night Shift)

Description:
A growing company seeks a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to work the night shift (approx. 10 pm - 7 am subject to change) for its Houston, Texas office. Under general management, the successful candidate will direct the daily operations of the Picking Procedure which may include, but are not limited to, picking, quality control, inventory control.

Key Responsibilities include:
. Manage two supervisors and multiple warehouse personnel that typically include recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation (and corrective actions), training, work allocation and problem resolution.
. Provide services to customers in an efficient and timely manner.
. Clearly communicate goals and performance expectations to employees.
. Ensure the safety and security of personnel in work area in compliance with company standards.
. Develop and implement improved methods of material handling, inventory accuracy, and work flow to promote quality, efficiency, service and reduced costs.
. Participate in the development of operating goals and objectives for the work unit; recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations.
. Identify and resolve problem areas of operation to improve customer-satisfaction using sound problem-solving practices, or escalates to senior management for timely resolution.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
. Three to five years' experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment; coordinates efforts with other work groups.
. Skilled in labor management, resource allocating, and labor hour accountability; balance and coordinate workload among team members.
. Strong employee development and performance management skills.
. Skill in examining and re-designing operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
. Knowledge of warehousing methodology, freight and distribution documents and specifications.
. Previous experience with inventory management practices.
. Previous experience with quality control and quality improvement.
. Computer proficiency specifically with Windows/PC programs, WMS, and MFG PRO (or similar transactional systems).
. Familiarity with cost reduction and budgetary control principles.
