Intermodal Supervisor

Job Purpose:Control the transportation of all products in and out of the warehouses via truck, rail, or vessel.Duties:* Directs transportation of raw materials and commodities by developing methods and procedures for transportation of raw materials to processing and production areas and commodities from departments to customers and warehouses.* Determines routing and method of transportation by studying tariff manuals and motor freight and railroad guidebooks.* Controls scheduling of shipments by notifying departments or customers of arrival dates.* Protects shipments by investigating causes of damages or shortages in consignments or overcharges for freight or insurance.* Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.* Provides information by answering questions and requests.* Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.* Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.* Maintains inter- and intradepartmental work flow by fostering a spirit of cooperation.* Maintains traffic department staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.* Maintains traffic department staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.* Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Skills/Qualifications:Legal Compliance, Supervision, Safety Management, Reporting Skills, Scheduling, Analyzing Information , Dealing with Complexity, Deadline-Oriented, Time Management, Problem Solving, Process Improvement

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirements are as follows:Must have experience in freight forwarding or logisitics environment.Must be computer literate. Must be efficient in Microsoft Excel. Must be able to create spreadsheets for inventory and transportation tracking, reports and presentations.Must have good communicatin skills both verbal and written.
Must be able to work in a fast paced and multi product environment.
