Service Install Technician

JOB TITLE: Service Install TechnicianJOB DESCRIPTION:Responsible for the mapping, testing, and turn up of voice and
data services. This will include, but not be limited to, DS0, DS1, DS3, Frame
Relay, ATM, IP/VPN Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint Data orders.
Coordinates order activity with LECs, IXCs and CLECs, DeltaCom technicians and
sales personnel. Participates in OJT program to provide training and enhance job
skills. Provides status reports as requested. Accesses and utilizes various
databases for the purpose of identifying elements of a voice or data circuit.
Interprets circuit routing and Network configurations. Utilizes Remedy Ticket
System to track maintenance activities. Access test sets through remote
terminals to test circuits. Other duties and projects as assigned by management.Experience/Education:
High school diploma or GED and an Associate degree in Electronics or related
field preferred. Minimum of 1 to 4 years related experience. Experience with
Lucent Frame/ATM networks or Cisco IP networks a plus. A good understanding of
one or more of the following: Frame Relay, ATM, TCP/IP, HP open view, UNIX
operating system commands, Nortel DMS, Lucent 5ESS, 3/1 Dacs, 1/0 Dacs, Adtran
4303, Jetvision, & Genview. Requires shift work availability. The ability to
use Bit Error Rate Test sets, troubleshoot and isolate network problems that
effect turn up of local, long distance, and data services is a plus. A working
knowledge of network elements along with understanding of all phases of testing
and documentation of DS0 and DS1 (Analog and Digital) circuits is required.
Requires computer literacy. Should be familiar with office automation software,
Man to Machine Interface (MMI) Language, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Lotus
