Scientist - Metabolism
Purpose: Scientist - Metabolism Our client is a growing, privately held company headquartered in Foster City, California. It is the commercial leader in predictive biosimulation for in silico drug discovery and development. Employing its patented technology, our client develops dynamic, large-scale, mathematical models of human disease, called PhysioLab platforms and utilizes them in all stages of drug discovery and development. We currently engage in in silico research in the areas of diabetes, obesity, asthma, and rheumatoid arthritis. The company collaborates with pharmaceutical and biotech companies to develop effective new treatments for disease and dramatically reduce the time and cost needed to develop them.
Aerotek is seeking biochemists, physiologists and nutrition scientists for Scientist positions on our Metabolism Research and Development staff. The Scientist provides biological expertise in the field of human metabolism, and works with our client's collaboration scientists to perform in silico research and development and identifies and develops intellectual property opportunities. He or she identifies and explores pathophysiological mechanisms and treatments for type 2 diabetes and obesity, designs simulation protocols and analyzes results, finds appropriate literature, evaluates and interprets data, describes relevant biochemistry and physiology, writes project proposals and reports, presents in silico results and recommends novel experimental methods and protocols to our collaboration partners, and maintains good relationships with customers.
The ideal candidate would have:
A Ph.D. in Physiology, Metabolism, Diabetes, Obesity, Nutrition, Neuroscience, or Endocrinology.
2-3 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, government, or academic research setting.
Deep knowledge of normal, whole-body metabolism.
Deep knowledge of the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes and obesity.
Experience in integrating multidisciplinary research with perspectives ranging from clinical medicine to molecular biology.
A clear understanding of experimental protocols, methods, and designs.
