Job DescriptionPosition Summary:Position is to be a field scientist for environmental response actions for sites requiring rapid deployment across the Southeastern U.S. Demands solid field skills using a variety of field screening meters and field sampling equipment. Clear documentation and communication skills are key. Must be able to communicate in many arenas, including internal Shaw personnel, regulators, members of the public, and potentially local media. Position will demand extreme flexibility, initiative, decision-making, and leadership.Requirements:Environment/physical science, chemistry, engineering, or other technical degree (BS) and background required. Minimum of 2 years of industry experience needed. Emergency response training and/or EPA experience a plus, as is basic knowledge of chemicals, contaminants and site safety protocols. Advanced field instrumentation skills including mercury meters, XRF, GPS/GIS/survey systems a plus. Prior personnel/crew management, field sampling, data management experience desirable. OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training required. First aid/CPR training desirable. Experience in chemical identification and handling a plus.Job Conditions/Environment:Primarily a traveling position, based in the Alpharetta office. Frequent and lengthy travel is to be expected. Overtime will be rountine. Chemical hazard work/level B may be necessary. 24-hour emergency response on-call required. Lift 40 pounds regularly, and must be acclimated to an outside environment across the southeastern US. REF:CAAR503292
