Research Associate, Pharmacology
Purpose: Research Associate ? Pharmacology Description: As a key member of our Pharmacology group the candidate will be working with research associates and scientists to conduct and coordinate studies evaluating the in vivo activity of novel small molecules.
This position will place particular emphasis on the planning, preparation, and conduct of pharmacokinetic studies in rodents.
Responsibilities will include all phases of animal studies including study design and planning, preparation of protocols, data collection forms, and other study documentation. The successful candidate will need to be proficient in various methods of rodent experimentation, with broad expertise in husbandry, anesthesia, drug administration by all standard routes, blood collection, surgical techniques, necropsy, and data analysis/presentation. Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing animal care required. Availability to work over weekends and Holidays required based on a rotating schedule. Other duties may be required as a member of the Pharmacology & Preclinical department, including assistance with generating reports or other summary documents.
Requirements:
Candidates must posses a BS degree in pharmacology, physiology, biology or a related discipline with a minimum of 3 or more years of hands-on in vivo research experience. Candidates must be AALAS certified or be able to pass the test within 6 months of hire. Excellent oral and written communication and computer skills required. Strong time and resource management skills. Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks and maintaining positive professional relationships. Ability to work well in a fast paced team environment; ability to work under minimal supervision. Preference will be given to applicants experienced at necropsy, tissue collection and tissue processing, as well as ex vivo/in vitro cell-based immunoassay, molecular biology and flow cytometry (FACS) staining/analysis experience.
