DuPont is seeking a Chemist for our Treatment, Storage, and Disposal (TSD) facility located at the Experimental Station research facility in Wilmington, Delaware. 

 

The Chemist will provide technical assistance to assure safety, regulatory compliance, and operating efficiency of the TSD facility.  The Chemist is also responsible for providing consultation to chemical waste generators at other local DuPont Wilmington area research facilities to ensure proper characterization and disposal of research wastes. 

 

Responsibilities include:Overseeing and directing the approval, storage, and incineration preparation and feed (mixing, batching, etc.) to ensure safe operation, regulatory compliance, and optimum incineration. Maintaining storage pad compliance. Reviewing and coordinating feed rates for various types of hazardous wastes into the incinerator. Evaluating and providing technical direction to safely handle and/or dispose of chemical wastes and to ensure compliance with regulatory (RCRA, TSDF Permit, OSHA, etc.) and DuPont requirements. 

 

 
REQUIREMENTS


BS degree in Chemistry or related discipline.

Three years of experience (experience in hazardous waste incineration preferred).

Demonstrated ability to recognize potential hazards associated with a variety of chemicals and associated mixtures (i.e., Flammable, Toxicity, Reactive,Corrosive, Peroxidizable, etc.), including radioisotopes and biological/infectious materials and know how to safely handle, store, and dispose of them. 

Good communication skills.

Ability and willingness to work outdoors.

Good computer skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)

 

 

Desired skills:

 

Knowledge in emergency response (HAZWOPER)

Knowledge of State and Federal laws pertaining to TSD Facility (RCRA, TSCA, SARA, etc.)
