ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


High School graduate.

Associate degree in electronics preferred

Minimum of 3 years experience as a dialysis technician preferred.

Minimum of 3 years experience in the repair and maintenance of dialysis equipment.

Possess valid driver’s license.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Equipment Maintenance/Operation

1. Perform a minimum of eight (8) hours per week in the performance of biomedical maintenance and repair.
2. Serve as a back-up for the Biomedical Technicians and assist with completion of work when necessary.

Financial Management

1. Monitor/control expenses for dialysis equipment.
2. Review and approve purchases of maintenance and repair parts, tools, and test equipment; and capital equipment as assigned by Division Biomedical Administrator.
3. Develop staffing plans that maximize utilization of all personnel.

Risk Management/Quality Compliance

1. Compliance with DAVITA policy and procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations for patient care and services. (Medicare, OSHA, or other governing agencies.)
2. Compliance with state or federal regulations of the injury and Safety Training Program.
3. Develop and maintain effective system of biomedical records and facility reports.
4. Assist Division Biomedical Administrator to perform baseline annual facility quality assessment audit and due diligence.
5. Review monthly biomedical audits and develop correction plans for areas that are found non-compliant.

Employee Management

1. Develop and maintain educational programs for biomedical technicians to include:
a. Orientation of trained personnel.
b. Biomedical training of inexperienced personnel.
c. Continuing education for all personnel.
2. Must understand, follow and communicate DAVITA policies and procedures with ability to provide in-service education.
3. Maintain effective communication between the Biomedical Department and dialysis center staff.
4. Coordinate staff participation in the formulation of preventive maintenance and repair standards and procedures.
5. Responsible for all employee activity such as hiring, promoting, job performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions with appropriate approvals from the Divisional Biomedical Administrator/Divisional Vice President and/or Corporate Director of Human Resources.
6. Coordinate staff meetings to facilitate staff communication and continuing education.

Other Duties/Requirements

1. Participate in the planning and construction of new units. Coordinate biomedical activities as necessary to obtain state license and federal certification.
2. Assist Division Biomedical Administrator to perform baseline annual facility quality assessment audit and due diligence.
3. Perform other duties as assigned. On request will assist the facility administrator in determining the need for facility repairs and maintenance. On an emergency basis only will provide repair or maintenance service.
4. Ability to lift minimum weight of 35 pounds and able to perform repetitive standing, sitting, stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, and use full range of body motions.
5. Able to work overtime with little or no notice.
6. Attend staff meetings, in service, and educational activities as required.
7. Practice considerate, respectful manner towards patients.
