Merchant Sales Director - West

Purpose of Position:
Play an integral role in the expansion of semi-continental sales regions through the development of sales/sales management teams along with implementing distribution sales strategies. Effectively operate and be highly accountable within a growing team-based organization. The individual would work with management to coordinate and execute on strategies to increase sales and market share as well as building profitable business relationships.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
•Provide senior level interface for key customers and distributors.
•Assist Regional Sales Managers with personnel development issues including leadership, performance reviews, business plan and budget development, reinforcement of sales training initiatives.
•Conceptualize and communicate solutions at all levels of an organization, including the executive level. Initiate projects independently. Consistently meet or exceed defined revenue targets.
•Analyze current and projected market activity, sales trends of certain products and merchants, general economic conditions, and other factors that may impact on sales; keep key internal constituents informed of any situations requiring special attention and propose appropriate actions.
•Provide insight and recommendations to improve sales and system improvements around business planning, sales strategies and tactics, sales training development, sales planning, budget development.
•Participate in internal meetings with Business Areas, Marketing, Business Development, etc re market input/developments, customer needs/trends, etc. Coordinate customer interaction when needed.
•Develops and recommends budgets to ensure adequate resources to meet objectives.
•Monitors and approves expense reports for the region managers.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
•BS/BA degree and 7+ years of industrial sales/sales management and/or related experience.
•3+ years managing sales professionals and have working knowledge of printing paper markets.
•Demonstrable track record of success selling into large diversified customers and/or distributors.
•Demonstrable success in managing and developing entry and mid-level sales managers. Candidate should have a history of managing a large base of sales reps while meeting performance goals.
•Possess excellent skills in the areas of communication, collaboration, organization and decision making.
•Experience in forecasting and budgeting.
•Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across the organization.
•Ability to travel.
•Or, any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
