Sterile Processing Technician - 80M - Wilmington Hospital

The Sterile Processing Department at Wilmington Hospital is currently recruiting for a full-time, Certified Sterile Processing Technician to work 11:00pm - 7:30pm. The SP Departments at Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals are modern facilities with state-of-the-art equipment. The Departments provide sterilization support for over 16,000 surgical procedures each year. At our Christiana Hospital, our Sterile Processing Team consists of 40 Technicians covering surgical procedures around-the-clock. Our Wilmington Hospital location consists of 16 Technicians on day and evening shifts. The Department will consider employment for Sterile Processing Techs who are currently certified through IAHCSMM or CBSPD as preferred candidates. This position is a career advancement opportunity for experienced CCHS employees in clinical positions such as P.C.T., C.N.A., M.A. and OR Techs who are interested and committed to training and becoming a Certified Sterile Processing Technician. The Department occasionally offers a 5 week (1 day per week) on-site training course to Christiana Care Sterile Processing Techs who are working towards certification. The primary duties of a Certified Sterile Processing Technician are to clean, inspect and decontaminate instruments for the Operating Room and other departments at Christiana and Wilmington locations. Also to assemble instrument trays and perform other duties to facilitate department operations. In order to qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent as well as good communication and organizational skills. Certification through IAHCSMM or CBSPD is preferred and required after 3 years of employment. Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs. and cannot be color blind due to color coded paperwork and processes.
