Chartered in 1746, and known as the College of New Jersey until 1896, it was British North America's fourth college.Position Summary: With minimal supervision, this position provides wide ranging research support assistance to the entire history department, its regular faculty (40+), full time lecturers (10) and staff (8). The position's primary duties include but are not limited to the following: locating research materials, books, articles, interlibrary loan materials; surveying and gathering material from primary sources; compiling bibliographies; editing book and article drafts; footnote checking; checking facts and information against established sources; preparing course materials; creating, managing, and manipulating research databases. This incumbent coordinates scheduling directly with faculty, communicating and sorting through potential conflicts and setting work priorities.Job Function: Office or Library SupportGrade: BOS 030Standard Hours: 27.19Eligible for Overtime: YesJob Requirements
Essential Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor's degree with background in History and History research, familiarity with the MS Office applications, and prior experience with digital scanning techniques and computer networking are desirable. Successful candidate will be highly motivated, well organized, and independent individual with intellectual curiosity and good judgment, and the ability to quickly grasp at an individual level the needs of a diverse population of faculty. Ability to set work priorities, a willingness to learn new skills, excellent communication skills, both written and oral, good interpersonal skills, and strong computer aptitude. This is an 11 month position with 75% time.Education Required: Bachelor's Degree
