Research Tech II/III (HemOnc-FlwCyt)

The Research Technician III is in the Developmental Therapeutics Program of the USC-CHLA Institute for Pediatric Clinical Research (http://www.ipcr.us/). This technician position is responsible for operating and maintaining the Program's new BD flow cytometers, one of which is a cell sorter. Individuals with the interest and skills would also be involved in the program DIMSCAN digital image microscopy and confocal microscopy systems. Duties include maintaining functional and aligned flow cytometers, conducting CD34 analyses on clinical specimens. Staining, measuring, and sorting cells using flow cytometer for a variety of cellular assays related to cancer biology and drug development.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent laboratory experience or Masters degree. Completion of course with certification as operator for a flow cytometer, course from BD preferred. Experience with microcomputers, flow cytometer software.

Skills: Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize work. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
