Research Technician Wanted for Exciting Research in Tuberculosis & Biodefense DiagnosticsThe Alland laboratory at UMDNJ-NJMS, Center of Emerging and Re-emerging Pathogens, is looking for a lab technician to assist us in developing new ways to rapidly detect bacteria and drug-resistance in a new type of PCR assay. Combined with our novel sample processing systems we aim to transform infectious disease diagnostics in both the developing and developed world. Our work is supported by the National Institute of Health as well as the Foundation for Innovative Diagnostics.The Alland laboratory is composed of highly motivated individuals who are interested in exploring new areas of science and advancing public health. We investigate many different areas of bacterial pathogenesis and diagnostics. Research technicians contribute to all stages of the research project and have the opportunity to present their results at laboratory meetings and co-author papers. Learning, understanding and developing intellectual curiosity are strongly encouraged. UMDNJ’s Newark campus has a large number of internationally known laboratories with expertise in molecular diagnostics, and contains one of the largest group of tuberculosis investigators in the world.Bachelor's degree in relevant science are required, prior research an asset.
