The Nuclear Receptors & Dermatology division within Women's Health and Musculoskeletal Biology is seeking to hire a motivated Research Scientist II. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing target validation, proof of concept and in vivo efficacy studies for the discovery of small molecule dermal therapeutics under the direction of a scientist. The individual will work as part of an in vivo team to develop the in vivo models necessary to assess the action of nuclear receptor ligands of interest. The position requires experience with in vivo pharmacological methods used in small laboratory species and some cellular/molecular pharmacology experience. The position will require the ability to work in parallel on multiple projects, quickly learn new technologies, organize tasks efficiently and collaborate effectively with other team scientists. The individual will maintain in vivo assays and carry out compound screening for lead optimization. The candidate will also be involved in the elucidation of the mechanism of action of nuclear receptor ligands in dermal indications. Responsibilities will also include designing experiments, writing protocols and presenting data. The position will require knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft excel-based data analysis and management tools.
This ideal candidate will possess a MS degree with Biochemistry or Biology with a minimum of 6 years of relevant pharmaceutical or academic laboratory experience or a Bachelor's degree with more than 8 years of in vivo research experience. The candidate must have the critical skills that are required for animal handling, dosing, necropsy and tissue collection. Excellent communication and presentation skills are necessary. Computer literacy required.
