Research Analyst - Municipal Securities

By combining your talent with our strength, we can achieve great results.Your job as the lead municipal research publishing analyst for UBS Wealth Management is to provide the primary published voice for UBS municipal credit and strategy opinions. You have a strong background in both portfolio strategy and credit research and are able to integrate ideas with our team of taxable fixed income and equity strategists. You will manage and develop two analysts.Your additional performance objectives include: a substantial amount of fast-paced, trade-specific, credit and strategy support to both retail and institutional clients. In addition, you are the primary author of two regular municipal-specific reports (weekly and monthly) on portfolio strategy and research topics spanning all market and credit sectors, plus regular credit updates and ad-hoc reports on market developments. You contribute to a number of taxable fixed income, multi-sector, and special topic reports. You are aware of current events and economic data impacting the taxable and municipal markets and are able to recommend how individuals and institutions should position themselves accordingly. You build and implement a process for forecasting municipal total return performance versus taxable sector indices. Regular forecast performance measurement will help drive bonus compensation.Additionally, you conduct regular internal conference calls and speaking engagements within the UBS retail brokerage system. Moderate travel is required to UBS regional offices. You manage a primary and secondary market high yield transaction credit screening process for UBS Transaction Products.Preferred Qualifications:You have a current NASD Series 7 and 63 registration. REQUIREMENTS
Basic Qualifications:You are a professional at least 10 years of Analyst/Portfolio Management experience in the municipal industry. Broker Dealer and Bond Insurer experience is strongly recommended. You have a related Master’s Degree.You understand municipal strategy concepts (e.g. relative value, yield curve dynamics, buyer segmentation, municipal derivates, etc.) and are able to generate portfolio management ideas oriented to retail clients. You are able to write about and give opinions on all municipal credit sectors, including bond insurance, health care, high yield, housing, land secured, refunds, tax-backed, taxables, tobacco, transportation, and utilities. You are familiar with escrow and legal structuring documents. You have excellent writing skills. You have strong speaking capabilities and are comfortable giving presentations to internal and external investor groups.
