Working under the supervision of the Chief Technician, Core Director, or Project Leader, and following established policies and procedures, this employee will be a member of the Chronobiology Core who provides assistance to investigators in the Division of Sleep Medicine on research studies conducted on the GCRC or the ESF. This employee will be responsible for the following activities: collecting and organizing subject data; maintaining and updating data generated by studies; coordinating the transfer of biologic specimen collected in studies to storage or assay facilities (involving transport of specimens on a regular basis from one facility to another); organizing and coordinating the resultant data from the assays; maintaining inventories of stored specimens and records; working with research subjects being studied on the GCRC or the ESF per study orders and SOPs; conducting data entry, editing, and analysis following standard guidelines and written procedures; and being a resource person in the Division for questions regarding data access, entry, editing, and analysis.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Provides assistance on research studies per study guidelines and protocols.2. Responsible for collecting data and maintaining subject and study information in databases and in secure files. May be required to input data, do analyses, and produce reports.3. Maintains inventory of biologic specimen, orders supplies, coordinates transfer and storage of specimen, including transport of specimen on a regular basis (several times per week) from the GCRC to LMRC. Sends specimen to outside laboratories as required, following federal guidelines.4. Assists investigators in obtaining results from studies.5. Prepares data, summaries, graphs, and reports to assist investigators with progress reports, grants, manuscripts, and presentations.6. All other duties, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
BS or BA in biology, psychology, or related field, or equivalent experience in a research laboratory environment.Some relevant course work and/or research experience. Strongly prefer individual familiar with circadian/sleep research studies conducted on the GCRC or within the Division of Sleep Medicine. Prefer individual certified in all GCRC IPM SOPs
