Molecular Genetic Technical Associate

Supports molecular genetic laboratory testing, safety procedures and specimen processing on human tissue using standardized and established methodology. Assist molecular genetic technologists in all aspects of processing biological specimens for genetic analysis.

Performs and selects appropriate DNA extraction techniques for a variety of cells and tissue types. Ensure maximum quality and yield by assessing sample quality and selecting storage conditions for specimen material. Develops and maintains knowledge of techniques for preparing and processing biological specimens for genetic analyses using appropriate biohazard, aseptic, and culturing procedures.

Develops, maintains knowledge, and remains proficient in the use of molecular genetic equipment and instruments including incubators, darkroom equipment, centrifuges, thermal cyclers, freezers, autoclaves, and biohazard hoods.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Biology or related Science is required. Prefer one year of previous laboratory experience focusing on molecular genetics medical technology, biology, genetics, molecular biology or related field of science, or educational equivalent. Practice a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality and performing duties.
