Laboratory Scientist

This position is responsible for descriptive sensory analysis of both pet food and pet litter including creating the glossary, analyzing and interpreting data, writing reports, and presenting information.

Develop and maintain panel (recruit, screen, train, motivate, monitor performance). Provide professional sensory guidance for project leaders and project teams. Design and implement testing that meets the objectives set by project teams. Collect and analyze data, interpret results and report findings and recommendations to clients. Conduct all activities in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and all required Company policies and procedures. Travel as necessary. Practice safety in the work area. Work flexible hours based on business need.

Actively participate in cross training as needed as well as learning new skills required due to technology advances. Additional duties as assigned.

This position will indirectly supervise a Sensory Laboratory Technician.

REQUIREMENTS
BS degree in Sensory Science, Food Science or related field. Three years experience leading a descriptive sensory analysis panel. Non smoker with no medical conditions that would effect sense of smell. Strong statistical analysis and reporting skills. Good teamwork, interpersonal, oral communication, organization, and writing skills. Computer literacy.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS PREFERED:
MS degree in Sensory Science, Food Science or related field. Experience with FIZZ sensory software, SAS. Experience in Product Development activities.
