The benefits of working at Capital include interesting work, exceptional colleagues, a comfortable workplace, competitive salaries and bonuses, and health and life benefits from day one.The associate in this position in our West Los Angeles office will be working within the Governance and Proxy (GAP) department; specializing in the area of proxy voting and supporting the area of corporate governance where appropriate.The role will include but not be limited to:

Accountable for the efficient processing of proxy votes cast on behalf of our clients.

Contacting portfolio managers, research analysts and various committees for responses on proxy voting agendas requiring an investment decision.

Accountable for the quality of data incorporated within client reports relating to proxy voting.

Acting as the focal point for internal (Investment Group, Marketing, Legal) and external contacts (clients, consultants, competitor peers, trade bodies, agents, banks etc) on matters of proxy voting and corporate governance.

Compilation and presentation of department metrics.

Proactive analysis and research into industry/market trends and how they impact CG holdings.

Proactive analysis and research into stock specific issues and how they impact the proxy voting process.

Attending client/consultant meetings where appropriate.

On-going development of proxy voting and corporate governance guidelines.

On-going assessment of external research/agency services.

Building constructive relationships with the Investment Group.Qualifications

The individual should be very responsible, highly motivated, and demonstrate initiative.

Industry knowledge of Corporate Governance, proxy voting and broad knowledge of corporate actions.

Strong computer skills/proficiency in Excel, Word and the internet.

Numerate and comfortable working with highly detailed information.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The ability to communicate with portfolio managers and analysts, as well as the ability to coordinate resources and information in order to obtain investment decisions and voting recommendations from portfolio managers and analysts in time to meet response deadlines.

The ability to organize large amounts of incoming information from various printed, electronic, and verbal sources.

The ability to work in a team oriented environment, team spirited.

Confident/proactive in problem solving.
