Tester

Position Description
Applications Tester works as a team member on the VLS NESSS to provide system testing, support and troubleshooting for the suite of application and system components.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

•Mid-level testing (manual & automated tools) working in a highly diverse Logistics team
•Working independently, work with the internal development team and work with the external customers in creating test scripts driven from Requirement Specification (RS I and II) documentation.
•Meeting deliverables by creating and implementing each script and documenting the results.
•Possess a working knowledge of testing software tools.
•Capturing required test script information and enter in an automated testing tool for traceability to requirements.
•Needs to possess good verbal and written communication skills.
•Utilizing SQL to analyze data for testing purposes to ensure correct results are obtained.
•Having a thorough operational understanding of his/her system. This includes the system platform (hardware and OS), and the user interface for Customer Support call resolution.
•Participating in customer JAD/RAD sessions to capture requirements into Requirement Specification (RS I and II) documentation to be used as test requirements.

Travel may be required to obtain training on the application from subject matter experts. Occasional travel may be required to attend off site meetings.
REQUIREMENTS
Required Education
BS Degree, preferably in an IT or business field or 5 years related experience in the Software Development Life Cycle process

Required Training
Position requires proficiency with MS Office Tool Suite. Prefer experience with testing tool and SQL. Prefer prior practical experience as a software tester with a high degree of understanding of industry-standard testing methodologies.

Miscellaneous Requirements
Preferred: SECRET clearance or ability to obtain.
Experience with Rational Robot and Test Manager (Rational Suite) preferred; some general programming knowledge and experience in requirements gathering/capture would be helpful.
