Software Quality Assurance Analyst III

Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Lead for the Data I/T segment. This individual is responsible for coordinating all of the global SQA activities for Data I/T.The primary activity of this role is to act as a software engineering process expert, coaching project teams in the use of standard processes and tools, and reviewing project team’s adherence to the process. Other responsibilities of this role include: reporting organization-wide process compliance trends and constructively escalating project specific non-compliance issues with Data I/T management; coordinating the SQA activities for Data I/T from all Dell I/T locations; interfacing with project teams throughout projects’ lifecycles; performing SQA reviews; assisting the Data I/T organization smoothly transition from current segment-specific Level 2 processes to Horizon; communicating SQA review results with project teams and guiding them on issues; working with project teams to tailor processes for project-specific needs; training/educating managers, project team members (including business partners) in software engineering processes; identifying and documenting gaps or inefficiencies in processes and tools; utilizing and analyzing SQA metrics for improving the software development process.
This is not a software testing position.
REQUIREMENTS
The SQA Lead role will oversee the SQA activities of all active projects running in Data I/T.
Knowledge and skills for this role should include: strong verbal and written communication skills; comfort communicating with all levels of management; I/T project experience preferably as a project manager, tester, developer, or product manager; awareness of CMM framework; familiarity with project-related tools including Microsoft Project, Mercury Quality Center, VSS, and VSTS; ability to rapidly assimilate new information and develop moderate knowledge of system under review; strong analytical and problem solving skills; experience with Quality Center (Test Director).Other preferred qualities include: comfort with ambiguity, initiative, tenacity, and negotiation and influence. 8+ years of professional experience (8 years directly related to I/T or functional area) or equivalent combination of education/experience. ASQ certification a plus.
