Quality Assurance Group Leader

Portola Packaging, Inc., is one the largest manufacturers of tamper-evident plastic closures and plastic containers for the dairy, juice and food industries. We are currenltly seeking a Quality Assurance Group Leader for our Batavia, IL location.

Responsibilities include: working with QA inspectors and performing routine visual and dimension inspections on molded and decorated product. Also quality responsibilities of operators, for process certification and report generation, and interaction with office staff and customers in the absence of the QA Manager.

•Development, Implementation and Maintenance of quality systems. (ISO, AIB)
•General training and supervision of QA systems.
•Visual inspection of molded products at the molding machines.
•Visual inspection of decorated product in the DECO department.
•Control dimension inspections.
•Color control procedures.
•Counter calibration.
•QA test and tool equipment calibration.
•Weights and thickness reports.
•Product and water sample collection and submission to independent lab for testing.
•Attending daily production and shipping meetings and other meetings as needed.
•Computer file updates and general paperwork
•General cleaning and maintenance of QA lab and equipment.
•Assistance in new employee orientation training.
•Marketing samples and information request procedure.
•Statistical process control procedures.
•Weekly and monthly reports.
•Customer complaint form and return authorization procedures.
•Bottle measurements.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Associates Degree or equivalent educational or industrial experience.
•Must have experience in dimensional and cosmetic inspection, SPC, plastic injection molding, documentation and record keeping.
•Demonstrated computer ability (word processing, spreadsheet & access).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to interface at all levels within the plant organization and customers.
•Ability to work in a positive and productive team environment.
