QUALITY CONTROL WAREHOUSE SPECIALIST - CORPORATE PRODUCE #129-06

The Corporate Produce Department, located in Tempe, Arizona, has an opening for a Quality Control Warehouse Specialist.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Report key quality assurance information based on set Safeway standards to procurement.
Resolve receiving issues in terms of quality of product as well as quantity in a timely basis to allow proper warehouse receiving and development of vendor quality control standards.
Work with quality control supervisors to quickly reconcile any vendor outstanding issues so as not to cause out of stock conditions.
Assist in banana ripening.
Work in tandem with warehouse personnel to answer any questions with regard to product quality, packs or proper temperatures.
Monitor warehouse produce inventory on a daily basis and establish a three-day and older list for perishable commodities to report to replenishment personnel. Such factors as temperature, weight, condition, count and size all play a factor in determining product quality.
Willing to travel occasionally for relief assignments.
Oversee receiving and shipping with objective to decrease slotting and mis-ship situations.
REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:


4-year college degree in food science/agribusiness or equivalent related industry experience.
Retail produce knowledge and USDA Inspection experience helpful.
Warehouse/receiving experience.
Fresh produce growing, packing and/or harvesting a benefit.
Good management skills and ability to relate with diverse workforce.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work in 34 to 38 degree temperatures for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift/move boxes up to 75Lbs.
Ability to work on rotating week ends and flexible hours.
