QA Manager
Quality Assurance Manager
There are two separate positions one in Illinois and another in Pennsylvania. The positions are virtually identical. The position in Illinois will supervise 2 Chemists and 3 Technicians. There are about 275 employees about 175 in production.
The position in Pennsylvania will not supervise anyone directly.
DUTIES
Manages the quality operations or initiatives in the laboratory and/or the manufacturing environment in larger or more complex plants.
Responsibilities may include reviewing and updating plant or lab quality control processes and programs
Working with multiple technologies or lines and facilitating matters with other departments
Managing and improving QA/QC staff of chemists/technicians
Identifying, developing and implementing quality and efficiency improvements of products and processes
Working closely with manufacturing and R&D to reduce the incidence of defects in production, and to reduce cycle time
Interacting/communicating effectively with internal and external customers and suppliers Manage and control local formula base and upgrading QA lab methods, training, and instrumentation as needed or directed
Generating monthly quality analysis reports
Supervising staff to include hiring, training, evaluating performance, providing compensation recommendations, and determining disciplinary quality assurance may not directly supervise employees
Developing and implementing program, tools and initiatives to ensure quality products and services, such as laboratory or manufacturing policies and documents, quality metrics and coordinating functional groups to implement quality initiatives or changes.
Coordinating operations with suppliers, customers or internal technical groups to review material or product specifications, investigate and resolve product or operational quality problems, and address question and concerns.
Overseeing the development and implementation of metrics, data collection and reporting procedures, and review results to audit operations, document findings
Ensuring operational efficiency and quality
Demonstrating compliance with internal and external quality standards
Reviewing and updates new materials or formulas based on operational and customer problems with suggestions, plant environment, and works with appropriate personnel to approve and implement changes.
Developing appropriate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with quality management principles and practices and applicable laws, rules and regulations and monitors compliance with these areas
Facilitating or overseeing quality matters with other departments, location and division including senior management.
Assisting with reviewing and determining plant policies, procedures, and overall plant operations.
Performing other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. Certification and /or experience with Six Sigma, Lean, and ISO preferred. Five years of progressive quality control or production experience in coatings or resin manufacturing, as a laboratory supervisor, plant chemist, or equivalent.
