QA Lead

Our Investment Bank is one of the world’s top global investment banking and securities firms, providing a full spectrum of products to institutional and corporate clients, intermediaries, government and hedge funds worldwide.Plan, control and report testing of applications prior to delivery to production for use within Equities IT and corresponding businesses. Plan, control and report usage of corresponding application releases in test environments in consultation with development & project managers communicating & resolving conflicts as necessary.Manage the delivery of Test Director test suites for the application space including F2B testing.The successful applicant will have a strong focus on quality & deadlines facilitating meeting of promised delivery dates whilst resisting compromising quality. He/she will be expected to set goals and targets for improving the quality & timeliness of testing and ensuring the timely attainment of such.Objectives of Role and Key Competencies Liase with technology and business representatives, to verify application requirements Contribute to projects being on schedule and meeting client needs Work with a demanding User base, being capable of communicating on the Users terms Ideal candidate must have hand-on testing experience testing an equity Order Management System (OMS) with emphasize on Front-End testing Experience with automated tools, specifically Mercury Winrunner or QuickTest Pro, is a major plus in order to meet the release scheduling demands of the business and maintain a quality product Should have solid background in UNIX/Linux skills, e.g. vi, grep, awk. Shell and/or Perl scripting skills is also a plus. Have in depth knowledge of the FIX protocol (required) in order to verify message flows and troubleshoot problems when they occur Candidate should have a good understanding of the equities markets, including market data, exchange destinations, DMA, and middle/back office processes Work in a very dynamic software release environment where software is released on a 1 – 2 week basis Understanding of Investment Banking business and processes is a major plus Very detail-oriented and aggressive in rooting out and reporting problems Work with Dev, PMs, BAs etc to continually enhance the service offered by QA, not for just for test execution but also across the SDLC Work closely with technical and non-technical peers and senior management to promote successful delivery of products and services Produce deliverables which comply with bank standards Maintain the banks standards and professional approach, especially when under pressure A proven track record in devising Test Strategies & scripting test suites liasing with both business and technical clients Ensure test process is implemented for all projects Provide expertise in testing of the Front and Back Office trading systems Analysis and identification of problems with the QA process Assure designed test cases cover all business requirements within the scope agreed with the customer minimising operational risk Keep colleagues informed of QA status; work collaboratively to communicate and share ideas to ensure team goals are achieved and application knowledge is shared within the team Be a quick learner; individuals are required to jump into projects and areas where they may not have experience Work with your team to develop credible, accurate, and timely assessments of quality, along with detailed information about system strengths and weaknesses Work in a variety of technical environments, to match the changing technological environment within the bank Demonstrate the ability to work with a high level of autonomy Understanding of Front Office processes and terminology especially within Equity Derivatives Create test strategies/scripts from source data Structured approach to defining test scenarios/cases including early involvement in the development lifecycle Be able to manage multiple test environments following best practises on release management to mitigate operational risk Good experience of how non-functional requirements can be reliably tested before going into prod Confidence and enthusiasm and a strong desire to learn/experience new things Understand the critical importance of QA in the release cycle Self-motivated, takes pride in her/his work Driving through tests and subsequent bug fixes in efficient and structured manner Test and QA systems in an effective manner, using innovation and common sense to provide the bank with the tools to increase its profitable growth Understand root cause of problems found and advise developers of solution required Planning and managing the integration of new test methods and process improvement Take a strategic view of process improvement, not a micro based approachWe can offer you an exciting, fast-paced working environment, a culture of mutual respect and teamwork and the opportunity to play a vital role in our growth.If you are attracted to joining an organization where every individual’s contribution counts and where your talent will impact on our future, please apply for this position.
