Mechanical Test Technician

Department Description: The Radio Test Center is an independent arm of the iDEN Mobile Devices development engineering teams, charged with the mechanical design verification activities for all iDEN products during their development.

Responsibilities/Expectations: Responsible for performing the various mechanical and environmental design verification tests that are required to demonstrate the integrity of new iDEN radio products prior to placing them on the market.

The candidate will also be responsible for the design, enhancement, and maintenance of mechanical test systems, adapting them as needed to the requirements of any given radio program. The scope of this will include the addition of new test capabilities, test optimization, bug fixes, and enhancements to data analysis and reporting.

The candidate will interface with the product Mechanical Engineering teams to ensure that all design choices are consistent with the maintenance of high levels of performance.

The candidate will be expected to proactively consult on design and test issues with the product engineers with an eye toward producing the highest quality products.

Independent, out-of-the-box thinking, rather than strict compliance to the established ways of doing things, will be a valuable asset.^^

Knowledge Skills: BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates Degree Mechanical Engineering
1 + years of experience mechanical engineering discipline.

OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Broad technical background, with specific expertise in the mechanical engineering discipline.

Familiarity with the basic principles of physics, chemistry, and automation techniques.

Specific familiarity with the mechanical/environmental aspects of the portable electronics environment.

Exceptional problem solving skills, and the ability to attack and resolve complex problems quickly and effectively.

Must be a motivated self-starter, and have a demonstrated ability to manage several disparate projects effectively and autonomously.

Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Thorough familiarity with common PC platforms and software packages (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).

Familiarity with Motorola Mobile Devices, iDEN Mobile Devices, or representative industry standards for portable mechanical performance requirements is desired.
