Provides daily supervision of technical and clerical staff to coordinate the direct day-to-day efficient and effective operation of the Exercise Testing Center.Under the direction of the Administrative Director of Non-Invasive Cardiology, is fiscally responsible for budget management.Under the direction of the Medical and Administrative Directors, supervises staff including exercise physiologists and support staff. Works with the Medical Director to coordinate staff training, including continuing- and in-service education to ensure high level of technical expertise and sophistication.Under the direction of the Medical and Administrative Directors, plans, organizes, delineates and schedules duties and responsibilities of staffAssists in the evaluation and recommendation of new instrumentation and procedures.Maintains and troubleshoots all Lab equipmentAscertains the reliability of all tests requested and test results.Assists in the evaluation for hiring, counseling and terminating employees according to established department and Hospital policies.Communicates with Hospital personnel providing assistance related to Department policy, Department utilization and test results.Plays key leadership role as the Exercise and Nuclear labs merge into one facility over the next two years. Related responsibilities in teaching and organization.Assists in the maintaining of Fiscal Control of the Exercise lab, by monitoring the inventory of supplies, and maintains all payroll records of employed staff and performs the weekly submission of the payroll sheets.Assists in the development of Capital Budget by evaluating the equipment needs of the Exercise Lab.Assists in the Management reports by collecting the test data and compiling a statistical report to be submitted to the Hospital Administration.Assists in implementing Hospital plans for reorganizing and modifying our database and computer-based reports.Assists both the Admin and Medical Director in the planning and development of long-range goals and objectives, particularly the merging with Nuclear Cardiology and the electronic report.Keeps current regarding development in technical instrumentation and trends and techniques Exercise Stress Testing through appropriate technical journals- attends annual conventions, seminars and other meetings associated to the above and educates staff upon completion of said meetings.Responsible for ordering and maintaining and appropriate level of inventory and testing center supplies.Responsible for the day-to-day management of the department in the absence of the Director.Meets regularly with the Administrative and Medical Directors to discuss lab and department issues.Functions as a liaison with other departments and community contacts.Responsible for student internship program.Assures quality of care rendered to all patients by regular review of service indices.Works with the Medical and Administrative Directors on staffing annual and probationary reviews.Monitors staff compliance with hospital and department policies and procedures, infection control and safety standards.Works with the Medical Director in implementing/growing an Exercise Lab research agenda. Responsible for tracking research studies and coordinating related billing from a research account.Responsible for the submission and accounting of the fellows covering the Weekend ETTs for payment of their services.Monitors general levels of employees morale and job satisfaction and resolves developing problems as quickly as possible; problems lacking clear precedent are reviewed with the Administrative Director prior to taking action.Promotes a spirit of professionalism and excellence among Exercise Testing Center staff.Performs all other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Three years experience as a direct service provider in exercise stress testing or cardiac rehab.Master's degree in Exercise Physiology or RN degree with stress testing experience.ACSM Exercise Specialist or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist Certification Required.ACLS certification required.Minimum two years experience in staff supervision, administration, and budget management preferred.Continuing education in the discipline.Research experience is preferred.Must have the ability to interact well with patients and staff for smooth ETT Lab flow and genuine cooperation. Interpersonal skills are critical to lead others and to work effectively with Medical and Administrative Directors.Requires greeting/teaching visitors to the Laboratory and exchanging factual information to Hospital staff and Administrative staff.Must possess strong oral, written, and leadership skills.Must have the ability to function independently as well as under the direction of the Medical and Administrative Directors.Must have the ability to prioritize various responsibilities to ensure completion on a timely basis.Must possess a high level of administrative expertise in order to assist the Administrative Director in the implementation of Hospital plans, in reorganizing and computerizing the Laboratory, and in the planning of long range goals and objectives.Must possess a high level of administrative expertise to independently run the Laboratory, in the absence of the Administrative DirectorMust have capacity to work independently, with strong medical and common sense for effective decision-making in order to achieve desired results from the Laboratory staff.Must possess the ability to supervise effectively.Requires analytical skills necessary for budgetary management and high-level provision of patient care services.
