Design Verification & Test Engineer

Department Description: Functional Design Verification and Test Department for the Consumer Digital Cable Settop Product Line

Responsibilities/Expectations: Design Verification and Test of Motorola Digital Cable Settop Box.
Perform system and unit level testing of consumer cable and telco settop box. Setup and debug complex test systems.
Coordinate, develop and implement test plans/procedures to verify functional and performance requirements
Work with developers with automating test procedures to reduce release cycle overhead
Report bugs found and work with developers for resolution.^^

Knowledge Skills: Experience with test methodology
Understand principles of data communications, video, CATV
Knowledge of analog and digital audio and video test measurements.
Knowledge of MPEG2, DOCSIS, OCAP, Aloha standards.
Knowledge in IP networking principles such as DNS, DHCP, SNMP, Routing, TCP/IP and Ethernet
Understanding of cable transmission standards and testing.
Knowledge of UNIX and Windows based operating systems.
Knowledge of Microsoft tools (ie. Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, etc.).
Skills in trouble-shooting and Test Equipment
Knowledge of programming and script writing a plus
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work under minimum supervision.^^
