Customs Compliance Associate

A well-established food distributor is seeking a Customs Compliance Associate for their International Division.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Establish procedures for review of import entries.
Perform periodic verification of declared values.
Maintain list of classifications, rulings, origin, and NAFTA status applicable to each imported product. Ensure export documentation and import declarations are consistent with that list.
Act as a liaison with appointed customs Broker.
Act as a liaison with Canadian and Mexican subsidiary regarding customs related matters. Verify that company-established procedures are being followed.
Monitor FDA and USDA release issues.
Prepare necessary documentation in response to US Customs inquiries.
Prepare Customs Binding Ruling requests as necessary. Maintain ruling files and backup documentation.
Update C-TPAT documentation as required.
Attend periodic training sessions on customs related issues. Schedule others to participate.
Prepare periodic reports in compliance with US and Canadian Customs requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 3 years experience required.
2 year degree strongly preferred.
Must have working knowledge of FDA and NAFTA practices.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
