Company Background
Luxim is headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA and was founded in 2002 with a mission to be the leading provider of lamps to the next generation business projector and rear-projection television (RPTV) markets. The Luxim lamp has many advantages over incumbent UHP lamp solutions, including brightness, lifetime, spectrum, instant-on, and cost. Today a small group of people are employed in design and engineering roles. As a pre IPO technology startup, Luxim intends to grow the technical and operations staff in 2005 for a product launch in the fourth quarter.

Market Opportunity
The market for micro display-based front & rear projectors is large and growing rapidly. IDC predicts the business projector market at 6 million units annually in 2006, growing at a CAGR of 21%. The television market is much larger and growing even faster than business projection. CE Unterberg, Towbin reports the emerging TV market growing at over 40% annually, with over 25 million units in the +$2000 market for 2006.

The Position
Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the Buyer/Planner will be responsible for establishing and executing Luxim’s Material Requirements Planning systems. This will include:
•Working with Sales to understand customer bookings and forecast assumptions to create an accurate picture of demand
•Working with manufacturing and suppliers to understand inventory locations, yields, safety stocks and lead times.
•Setting up Bills of Materials, Part Numbers, Suppliers and Routings per the above.
•Reviewing purchase requisitions and processing purchase orders
•Maintaining and updating the MRP system as business requirements change
•Working with the business team to generate the basic MRP tools including:
oDemand management: Customer request and commit dates
oManufacturing planning: Staffing and utilization levels
oMaterial planning: Inventory projections and material replenishments
•Working across the organization to ensure system integrity
oDocumentation and record accuracy (parts, lead times, BOMs, routings)
oTransaction integrity (Pos, Work Orders, Shipping Orders)
oInventory accuracy (Location, Qty, Yield – cycle counting etc)
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate has implemented MRP in a small to medium sized manufacturing company (or a division of a large company), and is comfortable setting up and administering such systems. The person has set up systems for products involving the complexity of custom parts and opto-mech-elec systems. The person is comfortable with customizing Information Technology, working across the functions, engaging people in system development and holding people accountable for record and transaction integrity.
•Seven plus years of manufacturing experience covering all aspects of manufacturing planning from Sales Order Entry and customer commit through to inventory reconciliation and purchase order generation.
•Experience implementing MRP systems in a small/medium manufacturing environment or for a division of a larger company.
•Ability to quickly learn a new integrated manufacturing system and customizing these systems to the needs of the organization. Prior experience with ERP and/or MRP systems is required.
•General knowledge of associated accounting and financial integrity requirements associated with material transactions.
•Experience working with suppliers to improve lead times, pricing, quality and on time delivery.
•Knowledge of best practices related to MRP and purchasing processes

Education
Bachelor’s degree, APICS certification desirable
