Generator Division - Global Power GroupBasic FunctionIn accordance with objectives, policies and controls, manage the procurement and execution of the contracts for New Products developed through the engineering department and purchased for the Global Power Systems Group.
Principal responsibilities are to serve as the primary negotiator between outside manufacturers and their principal internal customers (manufacturing, engineering, marketing) for the express purpose of developing new technologies for Power Systems.
Position requires broad experience in purchasing and technical supply agreements to support intellectual property, tooling, and development costs for Kohler Co.
Secondary to this position is the transition of these materials into the normal supply chain. These secondary duties include: managing the supply chain to asure a smooth flow of product to all facilities, manage the inventory to maximize on time and inventory turns, executing the terms of the contracts, negotiating terms and conditions for contracts, coordinating the flow of information between all interested parts, pursuing cost reduction opportunities through the entire chain. Seek council from Legal as required.Specific Responsibilities Negotiate and manage supply agreements that provide optimal value to Kohler Co. with special focus on intellectual property rights, tooling amortization, patents, and confidentiality issues.
Assist and/or lead negotiations for product deemed necessary to support engineering as required.
Drive continuous improvement in the quality of our product contracts. Research current contracts and outside sources for "best practice" articles to be incorporated into current and/or future negotiated contracts.
Build a dialogue with Legal to establish rapport and encourage continuous improvement of our product contracts for New Products.
Analyze trade reports, journals, and periodicals regarding market trends and changes alerting appropriate personnel to potential or imminent problems/opportunities.
Collaborate closely with the management to develop and implement procurement strategies.Relationships and ContactsSupervisory Relationships:

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skillsEducation and Experience RequirementsBS or BA in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business or Engineering and a minimum of seven (7) years of manufacturing, engineering or purchasing experience.
Broad knowledge in purchasing differenct types of components is a plus. Knowledge of Computers would be expected ie: literate in Microsoft Office, SAP a plus but a least some experience working on a mainframe with a working MRP system.
Diversified commodity exposure in components, raw materials and/or services. Knowledge of tooling and lean manufacturing processes. Ability to work in a cross-functional team.
Ability to develop, negotiate and implement formal Supply & Purchase Agreements.
