Seminole Electric Cooperative Inc. is a generation and transmission cooperative located in Tampa, Florida. Approximately 1.6 million individuals and businesses in 46 of Florida's 67 counties rely on Seminole and its 10 member distribution systems for their electric power. Robust population growth in Florida and particularly in Seminole's service territory will require the addition of more than 4,000 MW of new generating capability over the next decade, based on current forecasts. Our coal-fueled, 1300 megawatt Seminole Generating Station is located in Putnam County and was put into commercial service in 1984. The Payne Creek station, located in Hardee County, is a 500 megawatt combined cycle plant that uses natural gas as its primary fuel source.

The successful candidate will work to ensure that:Generation and transmission services offered by the Cooperative are priced in an economically efficient manner with appropriate terms and conditions so as to allow the Cooperative and its Members to prosper in a competitive market.The Cooperative's rates for generation and transmission service (including services to its members and non-members) are administered in accordance with sound business practices, policies and procedures as prescribed by the Seminole Board of Trustees and Management, Rural Utilities Service (RUS), and other appropriate governmental authorities, including the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC), if applicable.The Cooperative's interests are represented and protected in all matters affecting the long and short term contractual arrangements for the purchase, sale and transmission of bulk power.The Cooperative's future power supply needs are realistically modeled, as a sound basis for rate making and planning activities, in a matter consistent with RUS and FPSC, if applicable.The Cooperative's competitive bidding for future power supply purchases is conducted in a manner conducive to effective management decision-making and in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.The Cooperative's interests are represented and protected before RUS, FPSC, the FERC, and other applicable regulatory agencies in all matters relating to the areas of responsibility described above.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in business, economics, engineering or equivalent.Requires eight (8) years experience in the utility industry. Work experience should be concentrated in the areas of electric utility regulation, rate design and development.Must have thorough knowledge of utility rate making practices. Should be familiar with FERC precedents in the area of wholesale rates, terms and conditions and regional open access transmission tariffs. Must be able to analyze detailed utility operating and financial information. Should have the ability to formulate computer applications to support functional responsibilities. Must be able to effectively communicate with Cooperative management and Board of Trustees as well as consultants and other utility personnel. Must be able to effectively resolve pricing and billing disputes with power suppliers. Must acquire and maintain a working knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to rates and regulatory activities.Normal office working conditions. Overtime may be required. Intercompany contacts with various Cooperative management personnel on rate and other related matters. Contacts with various agencies ( e.g., RUS, FERC, G&Ts, Florida Power & Light Company, Florida Power Corporation, and Statewide Electric Cooperative Association).
