Senior Buyer, Women's Apparel

Amazon.com is looking for a strong merchant, a passionate self-starter to help us take the apparel store to the next level. The successful candidate will be a world-class individual, someone seeking a cause, not just a job. In this case the cause is building earth's greatest shopping experience for Apparel - a store featuring more products, brands, better prices & more convenience than any store, online or off. You will play a key role in helping the team achieve its goals, in turn delivering on our promises to our customers, our merchants and our shareholders. This position will also have management responsibility for at least one Associate Buyer.



This position is responsible for managing a specific business category (women's apparel) and growing the top and bottom line. Additional responsibilities include initiating vendor relationships, negotiating contracts and pricing, developing promotions, and monitoring and reacting to industry and competitive trends. Work ranges from managing item/vendor set-up and maintenance, pricing, presentation, assortments, and vendor relations. REQUIREMENTS


The ideal candidate will bring established, relevant industry relationships at the national level. Applicable experience is key in the following areas of business management: pricing, promotion, stock management, product development, private labeling and sourcing. The ability to problem solve using creative thinking and innovation is a plus.



Must by highly organized and have strong computer skills. This candidate should have experience in team-building and management, planning, forecasting, and a background in retail apparel. They must be able to work in a highly demanding but collegial environment where teamwork is a must. The right candidate will be flexible, action and results oriented, self-starting and comfortable with computer databases and tools. They must also be decisive and able to move with speed to implement own ideas.
