Senior Buyer - (Space&NavJD23519)

L-3 Space & Navigation, located in Budd Lake, NJ, is one of the world's premier providers of inertial instruments and integrated fire control systems to the global market. We currently have a position available for Senior Buyer. A major supplier of high quality Pointing, Guidance, Control and Positioning equipment for satellites, artillery, and launch vehicles, serving the military, commercial and government markets. The division's products and capabilities include Fiber Optic Gyros, Ring Laser Gyros, Momentum and Reaction Wheel Assemblies, Control Moment Gyros, Tactical Inertial Measurement Unit, Position Navigation Units and Fire Control and Digital Battlefield Solutions. Space & Navigation has provided state-of-the-art systems for critical and strategically important space and national defense programs as well as being the premier supplier of precision pointing and position location systems for the US Army.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Under limited supervision, is responsible for purchasing specific program related commodities or services (i.e., Passive Electronics, mechanical hardware, rubber & plastic products, aftermarket spares, facilities supplies and services) for the site.
Performs RFQ preparation, evaluates proposals to determine best value suppliers, performs price and cost analysis, and conducts supplier cost and terms negotiations.
Selects and recommends suppliers for facilities and production requirements.
Ensures suppliers performance meets cost, delivery & quality Program and Business Objectives.
Ability to develop supplier cost and delivery plans and corrective action plans as needed.
Establish and manage Supplier Long Term Pricing Agreements for parts assigned.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and to find solutions to particular problems and sourcing issues.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS:
Successful management of assigned Supplier cost, quality and delivery performance.
Timely placement of requirements.
Adherence to Pricing Agreements, Purchasing Procedures, Government Regulations.
Ability to document source and price justification for purchase orders.

ATTRIBUTES/SKILLS REQUIRED/SOUGHT:
Highly motivated, self-directed individual with good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. Results driven and strong organizational skills.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED/SOUGHT:
Bachelor’s degree. In lieu of degree, 5 – 7 years equivalent broad materials experience. 5 – 7 years of high level buying experience. Knowledge of MRP. P/C skills. APICS certification desirable.
