Responsible for applying the guidelines of Company policies, procedures, controls, and objectives, initiate contact with a wide variety of suppliers to obtain products that meets and exceeds Kohler Co. specifications.Specific goal is to achieve production part approval of purchased parts on time and within budgeted estimates. Production lead-time, total cost, and inventory management goals will guide souring decisions as well as matching supplier capabilities with part specific and individual program needs.Lead agent in developing new supplier relationships in Asia, Europe and North America to support aggressive new product development strategies. These strategies involve the introduction of new technologies to the Canac Brand and include the application of electronics, lighting, sound, power, counter tops, and new finishes.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute purchasing strategies for sourcing hardware; application of new finishes; and for the introduction of new technologies to the Canac Brand including electronics, lighting, sound, power, ventilation, air handling, and food storage.Evaluate new materials, processes and technologies.Negotiate price, terms, conditions and timing.Assist with manufacturing process selection that is best suited to meet specifications and the individual program costs and timing goals.Participate with estimating part and tooling costs prior to design freeze.Develop and execute timeline for program purchased part content.Commercially qualify potential new suppliers and assist with quality and technical qualificationSource tooling and coordinate design, engineering and quality communications with suppliers.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
BS or BA degree in Engineering, Technology, Production Operations or Supply Chain Management5 years experience that can include purchasing direct materials, manufacturing materiel management, procurement strategy development, or supply chain management.Hands on knowledge of new product souring and supplier qualification.Hands on knowledge with a broad range of manufacturing processes and understanding of the cost driversDemonstrated expertise in negotiation preparation, strategy and successful executionStrong program management skillsStrong written, verbal presentation skillsADDITIONAL PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
MBA Supply Chain ManagementSolid knowledge of the legal aspects of purchasing including elements of a Supply and Purchase AgreementEngineering related experienceStrong MS Office and SAP ExperienceCommodity management experienceGlobal purchasing experienceCPM designation
