Senior Buyer

Purpose: A leading manufacturing company is looking for a Senior Buyer to join their organization.

The candidate will be responsible for the following:

- Developing reliable sources of raw material, supplies, parts, equipment, and services. Obtaining price and delivery quotations as necessary
- Following-up and expediting purchase orders, inquiries and letters as necessary. Participate in supplier audits as needed.
- Negotiating the purchase of raw materials, product components, capital equipment, and expense items as required.
- Reviewing and processing material discrepancy reports and obtaining corrective action on purchased items as notified by Material Review Board. Preparing supplier delivery and quality reports. Review, correct, and/or approve supplier invoices with deviations.
- Planning and maintaining inventory control levels for purchased items using kanban calculator and/or MRP.
- Gathering information on new materials, products, equipment, finishes and supplier sources to keep abreast of new developments.
- Working closely with suppliers, production departments, and production control to assure adequate and timely flow of purchased parts and material.

The candidate must have the following qualifications:

- Bachelors Degree
- APICS or CPM certification preferred
- 3 to 6 years of operations planning / purchasing experience (at least 1 year of this experience in purchasing)
- International purchasing experience preferred
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems
- Experience with procurement of custom components
- Excellent computer skills including data analysis using Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication/negotiation skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities
- Good decision making ability
- Good planning and organization skills
- Experience using a Kanban system preferred
- Experience with electronics components and in a lean manufacturing environment a plus
- Ability to maintain visual capabilities including 20/40 vision, depth perception, and color discriminationClassification:Direct PlacementCompensation:
