Senior Buyer

Automotive supplier, with several plants located in northern Indiana is looking for a Senior Buyer to join our Purchasing team.

In this role you will:

Procure goods and services through the use of cost targets, negotiations, market tests, make/buy proposals, design and/or process changes, and material substitutions.
Control the cost of purchased materials within budget and generate cost reduction action plans.
Resolve problems (internal and external) in a fair and ethical manner; negotiate price, delivery, and quality issues.
Develop and manage vendor relationships to ensure quality performance REQUIREMENTS


Requirements for this position are:

Bachelor degree
5+ years previous experience in purchasing in an automotive environment
A working knowledge of computerized purchasing and material requirements planning systems
CPM or SPIM, preferred
Excellent attention to detail, highly organized, and good follow-up skills
Experience in domestic and international purchasing
Experience in blueprint reading, PPAP and Lean Manufacturing
Demonstrated ability to extract and analyze data
Excellent MS Excel and Word skill. required



The successful candidate for this position must have the desire to pursue a management career, a sound business understanding, and good interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills. Travel will be required occasionally to supplier locations.
