Department: SeafoodJob Summary:
Maintain a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly and efficient customer service. Perform all functions relating to ordering and selling of seafood, inventory control, and maintenance of stockroom, backroom and sales floor. Assist with overall department operation.Will do the following principle duties and responsibilities:
1. Successfully complete Seafood learning checklists.
2. Perform all duties and responsibilities of Seafood Team Member.
3. Arrive at work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.
4. Provide excellent customer service and regularly practice and model suggestive selling techniques.
5. Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, and stocking product
6. Practice courteous and proper etiquette when answering phones and pages.
7. Give timely customer feedback to Team Leader and Associate Team Leader.
8. Stay current with seafood product standards; communicate pertinent product information to customers.
9. Comply with all applicable state health and safety codes.
10. Maintain clean and sanitary operating environment.
11. Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
12. Assist in training of new Team Members, utilizing all training checklists and materials.
13. Order all seafood; maintain appropriate backstock levels. Utilize the Farm Report to project product movement and minimize excessive ordering.
14. Help to achieve and exceed margin and sales targets.
15. Process invoices and returns; maintain an order log.
16. Control spoilage/shrink; achieve turn goals; participate in monthly inventory.
17. Request and ensure proper signage.
18. Participate in national, regional and store programs/promotions.
19. Communicate pertinent seafood information to the team so that product standards are accurately communicated to customers.
20. Perform other duties as assigned by Team Leader, Associate Team Leader, Supervisor, Buyer, Store Leadership and Seafood Coordinator(s).
REQUIREMENTS
1. Knowledge, skills, and abilities of Seafood Team Member.
2. Minimum 1 year seafood experience or equivalent.
3. Ability to sell proactively and communicate effectively with customers.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of seafood cuts and cooking techniques.
5. Capable of teaching others in a constructive and positive manner.
6. Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
7. Proficient in math skills.
8. Strong organization skills.
9. Extensive knowledge of seafood product; can communicate difference between farm raised and wild fish.
10. Skilled in cutting whole salmon, tuna, halibut, sea bass, flat fish, mahi, and cod into standard and custom parts.
11. Demonstrated ability in knife handling and other cutting equipment.
12. Ability to perform physical requirements of position.
13. Ability to operate all necessary equipment.
14. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as required.Physical working conditions:
1. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
2. In an 8 hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours, sitting 1-4 hours.
3. Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
4. Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
5. Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
6. Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
