JOB DESCRIPTION:Our client is a major player in the automotive industry, a rapidly growing and expanding OEM.
In this search we're looking for an experienced “Purchasing Manager” to add to our leadership team.
POSITION PURPOSE
This position is accountable for developing the overall purchasing strategy (for steel, aluminum, and plastics) in support of corporate business objectives. This manager establishes interfaces to provide support and include input from engineering, product development, manufacturing, suppliers, and parts distribution. This manager also directs and leads a team of procurement professionals in supplier selection and the purchase of assigned commodities, while maintaining supplier relationships. This manager will also be responsible in aiding negotiations with component suppliers for raw material increases/decreases, becoming the company’s center of knowledge for each raw material market and driving a company-wide raw material complexity reduction program.
PRIMARY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DESIRED END RESULTS
•Achieve department financial, operational, and quality results as detailed in TPM and associated performance documents.
•Develop cost reduction/profit improvement plans to directly impact yearly economic performance to achieve business goals.
•Drive strategic and timely supplier selection while adhering to the International sourcing process to ensure best-in-class suppliers capable of supporting product programs, supply base rationalization and sourcing strategies.
•Engage key executive management staff and functional VPs as required to ensure successful communication and understanding of Purchasing and Logistics strategic initiatives and deliverables.
•Interface with Supply Base Executive Management on all unresolved or more complex delivery or economic issues.
•Lead, develop, and maintain a highly capable team of Supply Managers utilizing TPM, LRP, CFP, and other people development/satisfaction/coaching/recognition tools and methods.
•Ensure continuous improvement of technical and professional skills of all direct reports through effective training and developmental programs and assignments.
•Provide vision, direction and expertise to direct reports and cross-functional team members in the support of International’s purchasing policies and procedures.
•Provide direction to Supply Managers in the support of project management activities connected to product program and supply chain management deliverables.
