Purchasing Manager

GAF Materials Corporation, North America’s largest roofing manufacturer with 27 plants nationwide, is expanding rapidly. We are seeking talented individuals who are interested in outstanding opportunities for career advancement.

Due to recent growth of the business, we are seeking a Purchasing Manager for a State-of-the-Art Compounding and Plastic Sheet Extrusion Facility located in Gainesville, TX, and offering support to a facility located in Mt. Vernon, IN.

We’re looking for a self-directed leader with a strong cost savings focus and a proven record of savings contributions. This individual will work in a fast-paced environment and will be responsible for the following:
• Managing the Purchasing Department daily activities to include capital purchasing & day-to-day procurement for two plants (Gainesville, TX & Mt. Vernon, IN)
• Negotiating and implementing contracts & blanket purchase orders
• Sourcing new suppliers & implementing change
• Monitoring market conditions
• Attending team meetings
• Meeting with vendors
• Visiting supplier facilities
• Recommending change & offering lower cost alternatives
• Maintaining documentation & files for purchases
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have a BS in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field with 8+ years experience with purchasing systems. In addition, experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Maximo, & PeopleSoft is a plus.

Additional desired qualifications include:
• Background in MRO, Capital Equipment, & Contractor Services
• Experienced in cost based Purchasing
• Systems driven with strong emphasis on customer service, analytical methods, & total cost
• Strong negotiation skills
• Able to work well in a multi functional team environment
