Purchasing Manager

The primary duties of this position include:
·Develop and execute strategies to support business objectives for product quality, cost and delivery.
·Be the chief negotiator and buyer for this facility and coordinate with other plant buyers in Texas/Michigan/mexico
·Large emphasis on sourcing parts globally from low cost regions (Mexico/Asia)
·Drive supplier assessment, selection, evaluation and development process
·Participate in strategically critical projects that bring value to the Company through cost reductions, quality improvement, supplier relationships, commodity focus, supplier consolidation, and cost/benefit financial analysis
·Direct and work with suppliers on supplier improvement programs
·Regularly measure supplier performance and take action where appropriate
·Assist and advise all plant departments with material/supplier issues. Actively pursue alternative solutions with input from plant/departments.
·Manage inventory investment in raw materials to maximize inventory turns while eliminating stock outs
·Participate in lean manufacturing/continuous improvement initiatives
REQUIREMENTS
Skills/Experience/Education Desired:
·BS degree in Business or Mechanical Engineering
·Preferably, seven plus years of mechanical-related purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
·At least 3 years of supervision experience
·APICS and/or CPIM certifications preferred
·Previous MRP experience
·Excellent communication and analytical skills including proven track record in negotiations
·Strong organizational skills and the ability to be decisive a must
Experience with developing long-term purchasing strategies including supplier performance measurement systems preferred but not required. Company will pay relocation. Position offers growth opportunity and a comprehensive benefit package.
