Purchasing Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under general direction, procures raw materials, component parts, equipment, services and supplies. Sets overall corporate purchasing policies and standards and ensures they are met. Ensures the expeditious and accurate completion of all purchase requests for the Company.
•Support the West Coast business through the planning and procurement of inventory, operating and office supplies and all other required materials on an on-going basis. This includes the maintenance of system tools such as inventory re-order points, min-max levels, etc.

•Seek out, identify and procure from qualified approved vendors that offer the best available quality, price, delivery and terms.

•Train and develop the subordinates so that all employees are fully trained and knowledgeable in their duties and ensure that adequate cross training is in place.

•Develop written policies and procedures for the area to facilitate training, ensure regulatory certification and consistent processing, ensure that all documentation and procedures regarding compliance (ISO) are in place and fully understood by Managers employees.

•Supervises a minimum 2 – 8 employee. Also responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Requires a Bachelors/Masters or equivalent with a minimum 8 plus years experience. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Ensure budgets and schedules are met. Regularly interacts with senior management on matters concerning functional areas, divisions, and/or customers. Must possess excellent inter-personal skills and communication. Must have previous experience managing projects. Manages and coordinates the activities of the project in terms of cost, methods and employees.
