Job Description: 1. Job Purpose:Support the revenue and profit optimisation and improve the competitiveness and profitability of the GCS pricing responses through the effective ownership, management and usage of tariff repositories for Express, Air Freight, Ocean Freight and Road Freight.
This specifically includes the design and maintenance of these repositories as well as the provision of suitable analyses and recommendations.Ensure that the tariff validation process is implemented and adhered to.Ensure that a set of business rules governing the quality and usage of the repositories is developed and implemented.Provide consulting support to the Global GCS Pricing Management, Regional Pricing Teams, Customer Managers and Business Units with respect to:
the quality of the pricing responses to RFQs
commercial opportunities and risks arising from changes in price levelsElaborate a consistent framework for the development of those analyses and recommendations.Provide qualitative input to the RFQ process to ensure that GCS and the Business Units can win additional business.2. Principal Accountabilities:Maintenance and expansion of tariff repositories
The existing repositories require further enhancements as well as maintenance, both from a quality and quantity standpoint. Additionally, repositories are to be developed and deployed for business units for which the tariff information is not yet centrally available.Rate analysis
Analysis of trade lanes or sectors and service types to determine if they are in line with existing rates or with rates for comparable customers. Identify risks and opportunities specific to an RFQ, in close collaboration with the customer managers and Regional Pricing teams. Review the rate components and structure and identify elements that are over-or under-priced impacting the RFQ success rate and/or customer profitability. Compare proposed rates to past wins and losses to determine if the tariff proposal is competitive.Qualitative analysis
Use the repositories to provide GCS and BU management with intelligence on tariff developments over time and the risks and opportunities associated to these trends and changes.Comparative analysis
Provide high level reports detailing average rates for trade lanes or sectors and pricing differentials.Win/Loss analysis
Support the win/loss analysis through a review of rates as well as conducting in-depth interviews with customer managers.
3. Nature and Scope:a) ContextGCS customers represent greater than 4 Bn Euro globally across the different Business Units. Any improvement in the acquisition rate and customer profitability has a significant impact on the results of GCS and the Business Units.Improving the quality of the GCS pricing responses to RFQs and understanding trends & opportunities in tariff changes over time, are instrumental in achieving financial targets.b) ContactsThe Pricing Consultant will work closely together with the entire GCS Pricing team. Next to that, the Pricing Consultant will have extensive contacts with the Business Units and the Customer Managers.c) Problem SolvingGood technical competence in understanding and manipulating data is primordial, as is the ability to synthesise complex or incomplete results.
