Manager, Supplier Diversity
Manager, Supplier Diversity
DUTIES:
- Develop and implement an innovative supplier diversity sourcing strategy.
- Identify, develop and maintain a diverse supplier database for use by the sourcing organization when developing RFP's, RFQ's, etc.
- Develop mentoring relationships with diverse suppliers.
- Stay abreast of supplier diversity best practices and maintain external relationships with various industry and functional organizations, such as the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council, etc.
- Develop and communicate vendor diversity programs and processes which are consistent with the company's overall procurement goals.
- Establish processes to ensure supplier diversity information is gathered, distributed and monitored for compliance and measurement of progress with the Supplier Diversity Program.
- Work with sourcing directors, supply chain managers and end users to identify opportunities for sourcing and development of prospective suppliers.
- Drive ongoing market analysis, internal training, and supplier development.
- Partner with MeadWestvaco's communications group to implement programs, work with key internal and external organizations, and gain visibility for MeadWestvaco's results.
- Provide leadership and maintain competencies in supply chain strategies
- Prepare management reports and presentations to support decisions and actions related to supplier diversity.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
(Must Have)
- Bachelor degree, with a strong preference for Supply Chain and/or Logistics major, sourcing or logistics, business or production/process management
- 3 – 5 years business experience in supply chain, transportation, distribution, procurement. Will have proven understanding of supply chain management strategies and concepts.
- Diversity fluency/experience in implementing supplier diversity programs. Strong appreciation and respect for diversity.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal/communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership and enthusiasm for change
- Strong analytical and consultative skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to successfully lead high performance teams
- Process focused and results oriented with strong time and task management skills
(Nice to Have)
- MBA or other advanced degree
- Experience with category management, including negotiation, scope of work and contract development
- Experience with projects and processes related to supply chain and/or operational management.
