You will be working within the Honeywell Sensing and Controls business working on Supply Chain initiatives.

Position Purpose:

 



This position performs the necessary tactical activities related to the timely acquisition of materials and effective flow of communication and associated paperwork and the management of low spend suppliers.  Performs necessary activities in accordance with Honeywell S&C’s standard sourcing processes while providing support to operations ensuring all metrics are met.

 



Accountability:

 



This position reports to the Global Buyer Process Leader with direction from the Regional Material Manager.  This position has no direct reports.

 



Responsibilities:


 



Under general supervision the incumbent performs the following tasks:


         Purchasing execution

o        From the direction of the production planner’s requisitions places purchase orders with approved suppliers per appropriate agreements.  Purchase orders need to be placed within 24 hours of requisition creation date/time.  Buyer is not allowed to change requisition quantities, part number or supplier without Material Manager's approval.

o        Placement of tooling purchase orders per Commodity Manager direction.


         Conducts negotiation of purchase value and terms on spot buys, site unique suppliers and/or suppliers that are not covered under any existing contract or agreement


         Invoice discrepancies

o        Immediately resolves all issues relating to invoices on hold

o        Manage purchasing system alerts (e.g., invoice, quantity, etc.)


         Liaison between factory operations, suppliers, and sourcing organization

o        Submits and continually updates forecasts provided by production planners

o        Communicates quality discrepancies


         Implement systems upgrades within supplier base


         Participates in teams to target and implement replenishment programs that improve supplier lead time.


         Promote best practice sharing around replenishment process with other buyers

 Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

 

Additional Qualifications:

Strong background and ability to work well with others in a team environment.

Five plus years of purchasing, supply chain and/or materials management experience. 

Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; establishes and maintains effective relationships with internal customers and suppliers to gain their trust and respect.

 

Self-directed to respond to internal and external customer needs.

 

Commodity procurement experience, with specific Operations Support procurement experience desired.

 

Understanding of and experience with supplier negotiations.

 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Company Overview

Honeywell can trace its roots back to 1885, when an inventor named Albert Butz patented the furnace regulator and alarm. He formed the Butz Thermo-Electric Regulator Co., Minneapolis, on April 23, 1886, and a few weeks later invented a simple, yet ingenious device that he called the "damper flapper."


Here's how it worked. When a room cooled below a predetermined temperature, a thermostat closed the circuit and energized an armature. This pulled the stop from the motor gears, allowing a crank attached to the main motor shaft to turn one-half revolution. A chain connected to the crank opened the furnace's air damper to let in air. This made the fire burn hotter. When the temperature rose to the preset level, the thermostat signaled the motor to turn another half revolution, closing the damper and damping the fire. The temperature correction was automatic. Over the years, many Honeywell products have been based upon similar, but more complicated closed-loop systems.
