Commodity Manager...steel

Our client is a rapidly growing and expanding automotive OEM.

In this search we're looking for an experienced purchasing professional to focus on the purchase of "steel", globally. This position is accountable for developing the overall purchasing strategy of steel in support of corporate business objectives. The individual will establish interfaces to provide support and include input from engineering, product development, manufacturing, suppliers, and parts distribution. Our client buys ~$100 million of steel per year directly and ~$1 billion of steel through the supply base. This position will be responsible for the direct buy and any negotiations related to steel for the indirect buy through the supply base. This will be a key player in our complexity reduction program to communize our use of steel types.



Qualifications


At least 5 years of raw material purchasing experience

Bachelor's degree

Ability to travel approximately 20%

At least 2 years of experience in creating, leading and driving teams

At least 2 years experience in strategically finding new ways to streamline steel supply chain

Steel Global Sourcing experience Negotiating experience MBA Knowledge of or past negotiating experience in the commodities markets: mainly steel Project/Program Management experience Familiarity with Commercial Truck/Bus/Diesel Engine Products and Marketplace Ability to prepare and deliver business presentations to individuals and groups Ability to take responsibility for multiple projects to achieve goals and meet deadlines Demonstrated ability to formulate, communicate, and implement short and long-term strategies for commodities, components and services Experience in effectively managing both internal and external relationships with cross-functional groups and suppliers Self starter, strong work ethic and project management experience
