Our client is a well known and highly regarded consumer goods manufacturer.


In this search we are looking for an experienced purchasing professional to focus on buying MRO related commodities.

Job Description: Job Title: Senior Buyer – MRO/Supplies

Summary: Source and support of the MRO and Supplies spend for the Division with an annual spend of $300MM.

Leverage the Business Unit spend for MRO and Supplies, including Finishing Supplies and Machine Clothing.

Provide leadership in the use of cross-functional sourcing teams. Negotiate commercial terms for National contracts.


Develop, Improve and Measure contract compliance.

Coordinate and monitor supplier performance and develop supplier evaluation metrics to measure performance and value.

Identifies and deals with local and National suppliers to procure needed materials at the most competitive price in accordance with corporate procedures, strategies and objectives by maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of market conditions, purchasing policies and inventory policies relative to assigned items.

Introduce strategic sourcing methods to drive value for the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



A. Key Responsibilities • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of market conditions and market drivers which impact our MRO and Supplies spend • Identify, create and lead cross-functional sourcing teams for Divisional and Business Unit MRO and Supplies categories • Introduce and implement strategic sourcing techniques to bring value to the Procurement sourcing process • Negotiate Divisional and Business Unit contracts for MRO and Supplies • Develop, Improve, and Measure contract compliance • Coordinate and monitor supplier performance/Develop supplier evaluation program for strategic suppliers • Maintain competitive supply environment for MRO and Supplies categories to provide security and supply and cost control • Administer and monitor P-Cards and other strategic procurement initiatives. • Develop and Manage blanket orders for MRO and Supplies • Purchases materials and controls inventories to meet assigned target inventories • Manage material consignment programs. • Maintain compliance with Procurement process, procedures and policies including Sarbanes Oxley regulation and ISO 9001 • Manage supplier relationships. • Facilitate information exchange between suppliers and corporate personnel Qualifications: Motivated, career oriented, self-starter with leadership and management success. Ability to introduce and drive change to improve business performance. Proven success in leading cross-functional sourcing teams and creating value through innovative sourcing methods. Analytical skills and business acumen. Education/Experience: Minimum Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and demonstrated business acumen preferred. 5-7 years related experience. Aptitude and knowledge of maintenance procedures, equipment and operations a plus. Computer Skills: Experience in enterprise resource planning systems (SAP a plus) Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint, etc skills Business warehouse and/or data management software experience Certificates and Licenses: Certified Procurement Manager (CPM) certification a plus Travel Requirements: 20 percent
